What you need to know about the Surrey Bin Strikes.
Get Surrey recently reported that refuse workers employed by Amey in partners of Surrey, would begin a three-week walkout on Monday (August 1st). You can read the full article here.
The workers, who are members of the GMB union will be striking for 20 days in a dispute over pay.
The strike will affect bin collections in Elmbridge and Surrey Heath.
What does this mean for you?
The article stipulates that Joint Waste Solutions manage collections in the affected area and therefore people should still leave their bins out. If you're bin is not emptied by 4pm, then you should report it as a missed collection and continue to leave the bin out.
If you are worried about overflowing waste, you can dispose of black binned waste at your local HWRC.
